The Metoh-kangmi are said to protect the gods who exist deep in the Himalayas from intrusive, pestering humans. The Lepcha people worshipped a "Glacier Being" as a God of the Hunt. Promulgating the legend of the yeti. The origin of this lonesome mountain creature are unknown, but, in folklore it was a way of encouraging loved ones to be wary of wandering too far from safety or being caught away from home when the sun went down.

 

The names Yeti and Meh-Teh are commonly used by the people indigenous to the region, and are part of their history and mythology
