Hanumon Trickster
The word "yokai" itself combines the kanji for "bewitching" (yō) and "mystery" (kai).
In essence, yokai represent the mysterious and often unpredictable forces of nature and the supernatural that have captured the Japanese imagination for centuries.
Besides Hanuman in Hindu tradition, several other monkey deities and figures exist in Asian cultures, particularly within Hinduism, Buddhism, and Japanese folklore. Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a prominent figure in Chinese literature and is revered in both Taoist and Buddhist traditions. In Japan, Sarugami is a monkey deity associated with the Sannō Shintō sect and the Mountain God Sannō.
