 Encinitas 2025 Exhibition - Congratulations!

Congratulations on being selected to present an exhibition at the Library!  Your exhibition will be in the lobby cases.

You are scheduled for 1/7/2025 through 5/6/2025 with an Art Night Encinitas reception on 4/5/2025 from 5:30 to 8:30pm.

The Phouka and Others

The púca (Irish for spirit/ghost; plural púcaí), puca (Old English for goblin) pwca, pooka, phouka, puck (intersection between our utterly strange past and our increasingly weird future; the sweet-spot between science and magic; where pop-culture and the esoteric collide.) are shape changing creatures of Celtic, English, and Channel Islands folklore. An animal/human creature considered to be bringers both of good and bad fortune, they could help or hinder rural and marine communities. . You can think of the pooka as a spirit-guide of sorts, coming to assist people when they really need them the most.
